During the campaign for Presidency, there were millions of us for Barack Obama. We showed up in vast numbers at the polls and voted him in. Woooooo Whoooo!!! It was a very historic moment for the country and the world. We all know he was handed some BS when he took office and had a very big hole to pull us out of. He hit the ground running and has been proactive in trying to get things done. His first big initiative was a stimulus package. He received a lot of resistance, understandably. Now the issue on the table is healthcare reform. He is receiving some of the worst and nastiest backlash at every turn. Let me digress, he was in office not even 3 months before the Right started organizing and protesting with their "tea party" BS. Their stance is "we're the party of No. Every since Limbaugh, said "I want the president to fail", that has been their agenda regardless of what our President does; it's a problem. "Nooooooo, don't talk to my kids while they're in school about staying in school and doing your best, that’s indoctrinating them. Give it a rest. I know I can’t be the only one who is just tired of their tactics. Let me go back to the healthcare reform debate. Time and time again, everything from "death panels, euthanasia, and higher deficit to illegal residents" has all been proved false. So they have their tea parties going on across the country and they protest at their representatives offices. I just want to know, where are we? If we know their having a protest somewhere, why don't we show up too and show that we support our President. I heard a story about a tea party in Atlanta and there was like one dude who is for the healthcare reform versus 500 or so tea partiers. I called my congressman, Bobby Bright-AL (blue dog Democrat) and he says that a majority of his constituents do not support healthcare reform. I'm like BS we don't. The thing is we are all mad an upset and we do support our President, but we're on the sideline as he is trying to take on them alone pretty much. Another example yall may heard, Representative Arturo Davis-D-AL, was a big Obama supporter for Alabama; now when Barack needs him the most, he turns his back on him. Why? Is it because he's trying to solidify the Democratic seat for Governor? It’s a shame. I got many more examples. But I don't want to bore you. All I'm saying is where is that passion and emotion that we had 07-08 for the campaign? What I'm I doing, you ask? Last night I attended a local OFA (Organizing for America) meeting and got inspired and more knowledgeable again. Now I have met others with the same mind state to try to help our President. So that’s what we're working on as a group is to have our own anti-tea party and show the world that there are many more people who want healthcare for everyone. Listen to any Republican in Washington and they have the same script, a majority of the country does not support this bill. I say again, that's BS. Now let's get up and do something, flood your representatives’ office with calls and tell them you do support and want healthcare for everyone. Just because they do it the loudest and the dirtiest, doesn’t make them right. Come on yall!

The left and right need to work more closely together and put their personal stuff aside and do what we pay them to do. I do not want this big government and the President wanted the job and knew what Bush had done to the country and he took it on. i do not want to hear it was the other guys fault. Stop spending our money and putting this country in so much debt. War is not good and the troops need to come home now if we are not there to WIN.

I currently reside in Northern Va. And I’ve and a chance to see many of the tea party supporters and participants in my community and surrounding neighborhoods. And I’m going to tell you now; trying to reason with these people is like talking to a brick wall. No matter how much sense (You make think) you’re making; to these people, the only thing they see is the fact that they hate Obama. They hate everything he does, everything he stands for, and they still believe that he’s a Muslim extremist plotting to take over the world.

Case in point, you can’t protest with people like that. When they’re carrying loaded weapons to town hall forums and rallies, ready and willing to ‘fight for their constitutional rights’ that they believe someone is taking away from them; you can’t and won’t have a peaceful protest or demonstration. And honestly, I’m glad that Obama supporters give him the support he needs through voting and donating money (as I do on occasion myself); because you DO NOT want some old Civil Rights movement survivor being confronted by some closet KKK racist, right wing, conservative republican supporter with a load rifle on capitol hill (Much less trigger happy Lil’ Man from Park Heights, or the Muslim Convert from the local mosque).

If any of us (with common sense and respect for him, human life and personal opinions) where to march on Washington at the same time as these fools, it would be a problem. Because when you get out there and see some of the posters, pictures, and ‘dummies’ they have dressed up to look like Obama (and his family); it will make you forget who you are, say to hell with religion, what job you currently have, that killing people is illegal and that you can go to jail for physical assault. Trust me, when I say I see this all the time when I travel in and out of the D.C. City limits. These people are crazy and they’re just waiting for someone to step to them so they can hurt you and cry ‘self-defense’. They want you to say or do something; they provoke you when you walk by them, because they’re looking for a reason to act an @$$. I know this for a fact because I’ve experienced it firsthand walking down Pennsylvania Ave. And they’re quick to hide behind their Constitutional rights as being a reason for them acting a dam fool; because the D.C. Police (as dirty as they are) do absolutely nothing to stop them. I even heard one woman, say "shes black, so you know she supports Obama". Even though I do, to me persoanlly that's just asking for someone to come kick your @$$. But I put my 'ghetto' to the side for a moment and was civil. So I just decided to walk away. Sometimes you have to be the adult when dealing with 'children'.

Most of the resistance he's receiving is a direct reflection of the fact that race still plays a big factor in how we as Americans live. No matter how much we want to claim things have changed, it's still the same old "Jim Crow" views of race relations in this nation that's keep our Commander and Chief from being successful. But his time is not up. God is on his side and I assure you he will get things done. I pray for that man to do what ever he needs to do while in office to turn things around for the good of this nation every night; and I always get what I pray for.

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH RONALD L SALTER.....THE PEOPLE THAT SEE MAKING A BUNCH OF NOISE ARE UPSET THAT HE WON IN THE FIRST PLACE AND WANT TO SEE HIM FAIL, WITHOUT GIVING HIM CHANCE TO FIX THIS MESS. THIS MESS THAT WE ARE IN DIDNT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT AND ITS GOING TO TAKE MORE THAN 10'11 MONTHS TO FIX.

We don't really need to go out and act like zealots. The polls tell the story. We do love and support our president. The Republicans are just louder because they are more afraid. But the silent majority will win this argument. And the fat lady will have to sing the republicans last song

I so do agree with you. I have often wondered why we're not standing up in large numbers to support his agenda. I too am a member of OFA and was surprised to find that when we held a function for the year anniversary, it was very few people who attended. I'm at the "Big Insurance Companies, we're sick of it" protests, but when I tried to prompt my friends and co-workers who I thought were like-minded, it wasn't even a consideration. I would go ANYWHERE and rally ANYTIME to support our president! He needs us. It angers me that those right wing tea baggers are so disrespectful. Forget the fact that they're so filled w/ hate that they would cut off their noses to spite their faces. Health Care reform would benefit all of them. None of them appear to be the $250K bracket. But yet, The Rush Limbaugh's and Glen Beck's of the world will put the spin on what he is trying to do to help average people, and they eat it up! Free speech is one thing, but what they're doing is inciting a race riot. They're so afraid that "the Black's and the Spic's" will take our hard earned money and have what every American should have, that they're willing to fight to prevent it at any cost. I suppose they feel that the world is too over populated and who better to see die due to illness and lack of health care but the poor and people of color. Shameful! Am I not my brother's keeper? Speaking of which, they are now using bible verses to promote violence against him. "may his children be orphans and his wife a widow??? OMG, I knew the repub's were low and dirty, but this takes it to a whole new level. If we don't get it together, this county will implode. I pray that common sense and good judgment will somehow prevail.
Continue to pray for our President, and please people, get involved! Volunteer to make calls in support of health care reform. Knock on doors, please - do something - he needs us now more than ever before.
