Hot News: 100% of senior class is accepted to college at all male, all African-American school

• 100% of the young men at the Urban Prep Charter School in Chicago have college acceptance letters.

• Urban Prep Charter Academy for young men in the Englewood neighborhood is graduating its first class of 107 seniors.

• According to reports, only 4% of these men were reading at grade level when they were admitted to the school four years ago.

• Every one of them has been accepted into a four-year college or university.

• Mayor Daley and other dignitaries joined them Friday to celebrate the milestone.

• As part of the ceremony, graduating seniors receive red and gold striped ties to show that they’ve been admitted to a college.

• At a time when Chicago public schools are only graduating about half their students in four years, school founder and CEO Tim King says there is no magic formula for success; the key is hard work and perseverance.

Very good. Now I hope this starts to be the norm and not the exception across the country.

I am so proud - Graet to hear! We need more stories like this!. I know their parents are so proud of them. Great Job! Mr. King's methods should definitely be modeled in schools everywhere. Awesome!

Wonderful, but this should be the norm, not the exception. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I'm sick and tired of low expectations.
